Long Trinh

Obituary of Long Kim Trinh

Long Kim Trinh, was called home by the Lord on March 23, 2024 in Tucson, Arizona after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born 1941 in North Vietnam, Long's life was shaped by both hardship and resilience. His mother passed away when he was just seven years old. As the eldest son, he shouldered the responsibility of helping to support his family. One of his first jobs was selling ice cream, where any unsold treats became dinner for the family, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong dislike for ice cream. Due to the 1954 partition of Vietnam, the family eventually migrated south.

Drawn to the medical field, Long shadowed a medic from a nearby American base and eventually became a medic himself. He bravely served his community, saving countless lives, including his own brother's. After the war, he continued to provide medical care to his neighbors while working as a cyclo driver.

In 1968, Long married Hoi and together they had seven children. Long's dream of living in the United States became a reality in 1983 after his family made a courageous escape from Vietnam's authoritarian regime.

Settling in Tucson, Long provided for his family of nine by working as an assembler at Krueger. Though unable to pursue a career in medicine directly, he took pride in the fact that all his children became professionals, with some even following in his footsteps by entering the medical field.

A devout Catholic, Long was a pillar at Our Lady of La Vang and frequently attended services at various churches throughout Tucson. He was a kind and compassionate man, always willing to lend a helping hand to those close to him as well as strangers. He acted as an elder and helped numerous couples marry in his church. He would give the less fortunate a few bucks, drinks, or snacks. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed taking care of his home, garden, and especially his grandchildren.

Long is preceded in death by his parents, Long Viet Trinh and Thoi Thi Tran, as well as his sisters Ngat Thi Trinh, Thom Thi Trinh, his brother Viet Ly Trinh, and his nephew Hung Ba Nguyen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hoi Thi Vu, his brother Khoi Ngoc Trinh, his sister Thai Thi Trinh, and his cousins, Yeu Pham, Nhu Tran, Tieu Pham, Trieu Vu. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and Godson. He leaves behind a mark of kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
